Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2022, Belarusian starch production and market volume grew consistently. This expansion was driven by rising industrial demand from the paper and corrugated cardboard sectors and bolstered by state agricultural support programs. Key developments included the Rogoznitsky Starch Plant's international quality certification in 2021 and the launch of new product segments like physically modified extrusion starches, which enhanced competitiveness and broadened market opportunities.

Exports to Russia increased substantially in 2021 and 2022, further supporting production growth. In 2022, the government implemented price regulation measures to stabilize the domestic market. After reaching a peak of over 25 000 t in 2022, the total market volume contracted to 17 802 t in 2023, a period during which industry players continued to invest in modernization and pursue export markets.
