Earlier Report Observations

The Asian starch market volume grew steadily from 11.4 million tons in 2018 to 14.2 million tons in 2021, an increase of 25% over three years. This expansion was accompanied by rising production, which reached 13.9 million tons in 2021, and increased import volumes during the period.

In 2022, the market contracted by 13% to 12.3 million tons, influenced by a sharp decline in imports and a reduction in production. A partial recovery followed in 2023, with market volume rising to 12.9 million tons as imports rebounded and exports stabilized.
