From 2018 to 2020, Togo's soybean market volume grew steadily, supported by a government shift toward resilient crops like soybeans and sustained German cooperation through GIZ programs. These initiatives funded research, improved varieties, and organic certification, helping Togo become West Africa's leading exporter of organic soybeans to the EU. Exports rose 20% in 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic, reinforcing domestic production.

Market volume nearly doubled in 2021 to 138.6 thousand tons as national production approached 200 thousand tons and interprofessional structures were strengthened to organize the value chain. The 2022 launch of the fourth national marketing campaign, with a fixed producer price and public ministerial support for soybeans as a key trade, helped maintain growth by stabilizing commercialization.

A second major expansion occurred in 2023, with the market reaching 283.4 thousand tons. This surge coincided with the fifth marketing campaign, which established a floor price and a sales agreement among major industry bodies, alongside Togo's stated goal to remain Europe's organic soybean leader. The sector's industrialization advanced in 2024 with the commissioning of two large processing plants, including the country's largest with a 50 thousand ton annual capacity, and the validation of national standards to boost competitiveness.

Togo's soybean production has increased for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the country produced 154.5 thousand tonnes of soybeans, marking a sharp year-on-year gain of 25.6%. Between 2017 and 2020, production grew by 156.1%, which translates to an annualized growth rate of 36.8%.
