Between 2018 and 2020, the soybean market volume in Kyrgyzstan first remained stable at around 2 900 t, then dropped to 2 308 t in 2020. Regional trends, including expanding soybean cultivation in Russia and Kazakhstan, influenced supply conditions during this period.

A turning point came in 2021 when the market grew by over 40% to 3 321 t. This surge was primarily driven by the launch of the first fish feed production plant using soybeans, which created a new domestic demand segment. The development of this segment continued to stimulate consumption in 2022, supporting a further rise to 3 398 t despite Russian export duties on soy that may have constrained imports.

In 2023, market volume jumped by 60% to 5 451 t. The ongoing expansion of fish feed production maintained strong demand, which was largely met by a sharp increase in imports, while domestic production slightly declined.

Soybean production in Kyrgyzstan rebounded after two years of decline. In 2020, output fell to its lowest point at 2,371 tonnes, marking a significant decrease of 16.4%. However, production recovered strongly in 2021, reaching 2,816 tonnes—an 18.8% increase compared to the previous year.
