Earlier Report Observations
The Russian soups and broths market volume stood at 42 587 t in 2018, supported by growing production of dry soups and broths and the entry of new players into the instant food segment. However, the market contracted to 38 524 t in 2019. The following year, the COVID-19 pandemic boosted demand for convenient food options, leading to a recovery in market volume to 40 595 t in 2020.
In 2021, the market volume fell to 34 710 t as the restaurant sector recovered and consumers shifted back to dining out and ordering ready-made meals. This trend reversed in 2022 when the introduction of mandatory labeling for dry soups and broths from July 1, alongside geopolitical shifts and import substitution efforts, stimulated domestic production and pushed market volume up to 42 975 t.
The market stabilized at around 42 870 t in 2023, while labeling requirements continued to be enforced and new players entered the ready-to-eat segment. A sharp expansion followed in 2024, with market volume jumping to 55 397 t, driven by reported sales growth of prepared soups and broths and strengthened labeling controls.
