Earlier Report Observations
From 2018 to 2023, the market volume for sheep and goat meat in Bahrain fluctuated between 62 000 t and 68 000 t. After reaching 68 268 t in 2019, the market contracted to 62 979 t in 2020. It then stabilized around 62 000 t in 2021 before recovering to 65 675 t in 2022 and easing slightly to 64 703 t in 2023. This increase was facilitated by the entry of new companies importing chilled and frozen meat, as well as the issuance of 250 additional import permits by the Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture during Ramadan to meet demand. Concurrently, the government implemented Resolution No. (141) of 2024, which sets technical and environmental requirements for licensing animal production facilities, aiming to enhance Bahrain's role as a livestock trade hub.
