Earlier Report Observations

In the late 2010s, the Czech rodenticides market underwent significant regulatory changes due to European Union measures that banned the sale of key products. This led to a decline in sales in 2019, but the subsequent replacement of prohibited products with new approved preparations stabilized the market by 2020. That year also saw the introduction of a notification obligation prior to rodenticide application, tightening control over their use.

By 2021, market volume had surged to 2 769 t, more than three times the 2019 level of 721 t, partly due to adaptation to new regulatory requirements and sustainable use practices. In 2022, the development of resistance in harmful rodents to rodenticide baits necessitated innovations in formulations and application methods, supporting market volume at 2 998 t.

In subsequent years, the focus shifted toward long-term sustainability: the National Action Plan for the Safe Use of Pesticides for 2025–2029 promotes the substitution of rodenticides and data collection on their use. Major players such as Corteva, Adama, BASF, and FMC Agro are introducing new products and flexible pricing strategies, shaping a competitive landscape.
