Earlier Report Observations

The domestic market volume for raw bovine and equine hides and skins in Georgia contracted from 1 677 t in 2018 to 789 t in 2023, a reduction of over 50%. The decline was not steady, with a sharp drop in 2019 followed by a minor recovery in 2020, a further slump in 2021, a partial rebound in 2022, and another decrease in 2023.

In July 2024, India reduced its export duty on raw hides and skins from 40% to 20%, a change affecting global market access. Georgian exports of these products reached 2 876 t in 2024, continuing the upward trend observed in recent years.
