In 2018, the Slovak market for rapeseed, colza or mustard oil reached 135.7 thousand tons, supported by expanded rapeseed cultivation following EU accession and growing demand for biodiesel under European environmental policies. The market volume then declined to 113.0 thousand tons in 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 caused global supply chain disruptions, further reducing the market to 104.3 thousand tons.

Unfavorable weather conditions in Europe pushed up rapeseed oil prices in 2021, contributing to market stabilization at 101.5 thousand tons. By 2022, changing consumer preferences towards products with clean composition and ecological origin boosted demand, lifting the market to 114.5 thousand tons. However, in 2023, a significant rise in exports to 40.6 thousand tons, coupled with global logistical issues, tightened domestic supply, leading to a sharp drop in market volume to 88.9 thousand tons.

In 2020, the country produced 85 K t, marking a modest decrease of 8.0% compared to the previous year. The highest production level was recorded in 2018 at 97 K t, which also saw the largest annual increase of 14.3%.

Following a two-year decline, Slovakia's exports of rapeseed, colza, or mustard oil and fractions rebounded in 2020. The country exported 8 389 t that year, showing a strong growth of 15.0% from 2019. However, over the 2017-2020 period, exports fell by 51.9%, with an average annual decrease of 21.6%. The lowest export volume was in 2019 at 7 292 t, which also experienced the sharpest drop of 56.3%.

From 2017 to 2020, Poland, Czechia, and Hungary were the top destinations for Slovakia's exports of rapeseed, colza, or mustard oil and fractions in volume terms. Poland accounted for 52.7% of exports, Czechia for 11.7%, and Hungary for 9.7%, together making up 74.1% of total export flows.

After a two-year downturn, Slovakia's exports of rapeseed, colza, or mustard oil and fractions in value terms increased in 2020. Exports reached 7 771 K $ US that year, rising by 26.0% compared to 2019. Despite this, from 2017 to 2020, exports decreased by 61%, with an average annual decline of 27.0%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 6 166 K $ US, which also saw the largest fall of 55.6%.

The largest decline occurred in 2019, dropping by 50.2%.
