Earlier Report Observations

Production of prepared and preserved poultry meat in Eastern Europe increased from 405 thousand tons in 2018 to 452 thousand tons in 2023, supported by state measures for import substitution and industry development. The entry of new players and expansion of production capacities in agricultural organizations further contributed to this growth.

Exports rose sharply from 181 thousand tons in 2018 to 370 thousand tons in 2023, driven by the development of export potential to markets in Asia and the Middle East and legislative changes favoring production and overseas sales. This export growth led to a decline in domestic market volume from 263 thousand tons to 147 thousand tons over the same period.

Additional factors included the inclusion of poultry farming in preferential lending programs, duty-free import quotas for chicken meat, and a shift in consumer preferences toward poultry as a more affordable meat option. Leading companies modernized their facilities, strengthening their market positions.
