This growth was underpinned by the expansion of domestic walnut cultivation, with mature orchards covering about 5,000 hectares and producing around 7.5 thousand tons annually, driven by the crop's favorable market position and lower capital requirements. Simultaneously, investments in processing capacity, such as the Tóti Dió company's expansion into hazelnut cultivation and technology upgrades, along with the Tranzit Dió processing plant—established with state support and an annual capacity of 600 tons—supported the sector's development.

In the following years, trade data shows a consistent upward trend in exports, which grew from 13.7 thousand tons in 2018 to 17.7 thousand tons in 2025. This rise aligns with the industry's focus on enhancing processing efficiency and meeting stringent quality assurance standards like GlobalGAP and IFS, as noted in 2022. Imports also saw a moderate increase, reaching 6.4 thousand tons by 2025, reflecting sustained domestic demand for prepared nuts and seeds.
