Between 2018 and 2023, the Cypriot market for prepared mushrooms and truffles experienced notable fluctuations. Market volume grew from 630 t in 2018 to 681 t in 2019, then contracted to 537 t in 2021 before recovering to 628 t by 2023. Domestic production more than doubled over the period, rising from 101 t to 168 t, while imports remained the dominant supply source despite a temporary decline from 528 t to 400 t between 2018 and 2021.

The initial stability in harvest area for mushrooms and truffles in 2018, without major legislative changes, provided a baseline for subsequent shifts. The market contraction in 2020–2021 was driven by a drop in imports, which fell by nearly 130 t, while production held relatively steady. The recovery from 2022 onward was supported by a rebound in imports and sustained higher output from local processors.
