Poultry meat production in Ukraine increased from 2.5 million tons in 2018 to 2.8 million tons in 2020, while the market volume grew to 2.5 million tons. This expansion was supported by strong export demand, facilitated by major players like Myronivskyi Khliboprodukt, which emerged as a top exporter to the EU and Middle East. Furthermore, leading producers reoriented their operations to meet European standards in 2020, enhancing access to international markets and encouraging production investments.

After the 2020 peak, production declined to 2.5 million tons in 2022, and the market volume contracted to 2.2 million tons. During this period, export flows were partially sustained by an agreement with Moldova to restore poultry meat shipments, contingent on confirming product safety, which helped mitigate a steeper export drop.

By 2023, production recovered to 2.6 million tons and the market volume rose to 2.3 million tons. In 2024, poultry meat procurement quadrupled, signaling a substantial surge in domestic demand and production capacity. Additional export incentives came from the allocation of EU export quotas for 2025, including reserve volumes for new exporters.

Ukraine's poultry meat and offal production grew for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the country produced 2 809 K t, marking a 1.7% increase from 2019. From 2017 to 2020, production rose by 13.5%, averaging an annual growth rate of 4.3%.

Ukraine's poultry meat and offal production value declined for the second year in a row. In 2020, output was valued at 3 619 M $ US, down 6.2% from the previous year. The highest value was recorded in 2018 at 3 882 M $ US, with the largest annual increase of 9.1% also occurring that year.

Ukraine's poultry meat and offal exports increased for the third consecutive year. In 2020, exports reached 433.5 K t, up 4.6% from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports grew by 59.7%, with a compound annual growth rate of 16.9%.

From 2017 to 2020, Ukraine's poultry meat and offal exports in kind were highly diversified geographically. The top three destinations—the Netherlands (13.9%), Saudi Arabia (11.8%), and Iraq (8.1%)—accounted for just 33.8% of total exports, while the remaining 66.2% was spread across numerous smaller partner countries.

After two years of growth, Ukraine's poultry meat and offal export value declined. In 2020, exports totaled 558.3 M $ US, a decrease of 3.5% from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, export value increased by 43.1%, with a compound annual growth rate of 12.7%. The peak value was recorded in 2019 at 578.4 M $ US, and the largest annual increase occurred in 2018 at 29.8%.

During 2017-2020, key buyers of Ukrainian poultry meat and offal in value terms included the Netherlands (19.2%), Saudi Arabia (15.0%), and Slovakia (8.0%). However, their combined share was only 42.1% of total exports, with the remaining 57.9% distributed among many other partners.

Imports poultry meat and offal in Ukraine

After two years of growth, Ukraine's poultry meat and offal imports in kind declined. In 2020, imports totaled 107.8 K t, a significant drop of 17.8% from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, imports decreased by 8.9%, with a compound annual decline of 3.1%. The highest import volume was in 2019 at 131.2 K t, and the largest annual increase was in 2018 at 10.3%.

From 2017 to 2020, Poland (65.2%), Germany (13.1%), and Hungary (10.9%) were the main sources for Ukraine's poultry meat and offal imports in kind, together representing 89.2% of total imports.

After two years of growth, Ukraine's poultry meat and offal import value declined. In 2020, imports reached 45.5 M $ US, down 13.3% from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, import value fell by 6.2%, with a compound annual decline of 2.1%. The peak value was in 2019 at 52.5 M $ US, and the largest annual increase was in 2018 at 7.0%.
