In 2024, the Ministry of Commerce imposed strict price ceilings for live chickens and ready-to-cook poultry to curb inflation and stabilize supply. This regulatory intervention was accompanied by a marked industry consolidation, as the number of official slaughterhouses fell from 36 to 14 between 2018 and 2024.
