The Jordanian poultry meat market opened the period at 483 thousand tons in 2018, with the sector already reporting a high degree of self-sufficiency exceeding 80%. This was followed by a contraction to 418 thousand tons in 2019 and a recovery to 462 thousand tons in 2020.

A significant expansion to 556 thousand tons occurred in 2021, driven by a substantial rise in chicken meat production in the fourth quarter of that year. Government-imposed price ceilings for chicken during this period helped maintain consumer affordability and supported market volume growth.

The market volume continued to increase, reaching a peak of 571 thousand tons in 2022 amid reported stability in the poultry sector and expectations of greater chicken supplies. However, in 2023, the market contracted sharply to 460 thousand tons as increased feed costs pressured producers and led to reduced output.

Jordan's poultry meat and offal production rebounded in 2020 after two consecutive years of decline. The country produced 435.9 thousand tons, marking a significant 17.9% increase compared to 2019. Production had reached its lowest point in 2019 at 369.7 thousand tons, which represented the largest decline of 15.1% during the period.

In 2020, Jordan's poultry meat and offal output was valued at 1 215 million US dollars, showing a solid 15.2% improvement from the previous year. The minimum value was recorded in 2019 at 1 055 million US dollars, while the peak occurred in 2018 at 1 225 million US dollars. Between 2017 and 2020, production grew by 10.2%, translating to an average annual rate of 3.3%. The largest decline was observed in 2019 at 13.9%.

From 2017 to 2020, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Free Zones were the primary destinations for Jordan's poultry meat and offal exports in volume terms. Together, they accounted for 62.3% of total exports, with Iraq representing 29.1%, Saudi Arabia 20.7%, and Free Zones 12.5%.
