The development of chilled meat segments and growing consumer preference for fresh products supported market volume, which reached 14 100 thousand tonnes in 2019. However, in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted supply chains and altered consumption patterns, leading to a contraction in market volume to 13 580 thousand tonnes.

State support measures, including subsidies for poultry farming, boosted domestic production from 2021, enabling the market to recover despite import restrictions due to international sanctions. The stabilization of import quotas and continued development of chilled and frozen meat production further supported market volume, which grew to 14 265 thousand tonnes in 2023.
