Poultry meat production in Côte d'Ivoire increased from 142.2 thousand tons in 2018 to 150.9 thousand tons in 2020. This initial growth was supported by the Ivorian government's policy to develop the poultry sector as a key agro-industrial industry, which helped to dynamize local output.

Production continued to rise, reaching 178.2 thousand tons in 2021. A major leap occurred in 2022, when output surged to 264.8 thousand tons. This acceleration was closely linked to the government's introduction of a compensatory levy of 1,000 CFA francs per kilogram on imported poultry. This measure neutralized the effects of export subsidies in originating countries and directly encouraged the expansion of domestic production.

By 2023, production stabilized at 265.4 thousand tons. The market was underpinned by sustained demand fueled by rapid urbanization, rising incomes, and dietary diversification among consumers. Concurrently, the government continued to implement its strategic plan and incentive policies aimed at further growing the local poultry sector.
