Brunei's poultry meat and offal market volume showed a clear upward trajectory from 2020 to 2022, rising from 53,700 tonnes to a peak of 61,900 tonnes. This growth phase was interrupted by a contraction to 58,600 tonnes in 2023.

The significant expansion in domestic production and market volume from 2021 was directly supported by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism's initiatives to construct new poultry houses and expand farmland, increasing local capacity. The concurrent establishment of the Brunei Darussalam Food Authority in 2021 provided a strengthened regulatory framework for food safety and quality, bolstering the production environment and contributing to the achievement of 100% self-sufficiency in chicken meat by 2022.

The market volume receded in 2023. During this year, the regulatory focus shifted towards trade facilitation with the launch of an online Processed Food Import Registration system for processed imports, while major domestic companies like PDS Abattoir and BMC Food Industries secured export agreements for regional markets, reflecting an evolving industry structure.
