Covering the period from 2018 to 2025, the Portland cement market in Bosnia and Herzegovina showed significant development, particularly from 2021 onward. Market volume grew from 1.5 million tons in 2021 to 1.8 million tons in 2024, while market value more than doubled from $133 million to $215 million, reflecting substantial price increases.

Domestic production rose steadily, from 1.1 million tons in 2021 to 1.5 million tons in 2024, contributing to a decline in imports and a rise in exports. After two consecutive years of decline, Bosnia and Herzegovina's cross-border shipments of Portland cement increased in 2021. The country exported 76.6 thousand tons of Portland cement that year, marking a 10.7% rise compared to the previous year. Looking at the broader period from 2018 to 2021, exports fell by 37%, which translates to an average annual decline of 14.3%. The lowest export volume was recorded in 2020 at 69.2 thousand tons, while the sharpest drop occurred in 2019 with a 31.9% decrease.

Following a two-year downturn, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Portland cement exports in value terms rebounded in 2021. Exports reached 5 459 thousand US dollars that year, showing a significant 22.8% increase year-over-year. Over the 2018-2021 period, however, exports declined by 38.3%, with a compound annual growth rate of -14.9%. The lowest value was recorded in 2020 at 4 445 thousand US dollars, and the largest decline took place in 2019 with a 38.6% drop.
