Earlier Report Observations

The Caribbean market for plums and sloes reached its highest point in 2019 at 2 068 tonnes, before entering a period of sustained contraction. By 2023, the total market volume had decreased to 1 512 tonnes, a reduction of approximately 27% from the peak.

This decline was underpinned by a steady fall in local production, which dropped by over 23% from 745 tonnes in 2018 to 573 tonnes in 2023. After a sharp increase in 2019, import volumes also followed a downward path, further reducing the overall supply available in the market.
