The market for plasticised PVC compounds in Poland contracted significantly between 2018 and 2020, with total market volume falling from 128 275 t to 108 414 t. Domestic production also declined over this period, dropping to 75 764 t in 2020, while imports fell sharply in 2019 before a partial recovery the following year.

From 2021 onward, import volumes fluctuated within a range of 43 000 t to 52 000 t annually, while exports demonstrated a clear upward trend, more than doubling from 2020 levels to reach 21 466 t by 2024. The regulatory landscape began a notable shift in 2024 with the EU-wide restriction on lead in PVC products taking effect in November, directly altering production requirements and material composition. This was accompanied by broader regulatory pressure within the EU to limit phthalates and other endocrine-disrupting plasticizers, steering the industry toward alternative and more sustainable formulations.

Poland's production of plasticised PVC compounds declined for the second year in a row. In 2020, output was valued at 74.7 million US dollars, marking an 18.9% decrease compared to 2019. Production peaked in 2018 at 100.8 million US dollars, which represented an 11.8% increase that year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production fell by 17.1%, equivalent to an annualized rate of 6.1%.

After two years of growth, Poland's production volume of plasticised PVC compounds declined. In 2020, the country produced 75 764 tonnes, a significant 14.6% decrease year-on-year. Production reached its highest point in 2019 at 88 706 tonnes, which was a 2.2% increase that year. From 2017 to 2020, production dropped by 11.5%, with a compound annual growth rate of -4.0%.

In 2020, Poland exported 10 671 tonnes of plasticised PVC compounds, a 19.6% drop compared to 2019. Exports peaked in 2019 at 13 265 tonnes, which was a 34.1% increase that year, while the lowest level was recorded in 2018 at 9 889 tonnes. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports decreased by 8.1%, equivalent to an annualized rate of 2.8%.

From 2017 to 2020, Poland's exports of plasticised PVC compounds were distributed across multiple countries. Ukraine accounted for 23.9% of exports in kind, Russia for 14.3%, and Germany for 11.2%. Together, these three countries represented 49.5% of total exports, with no single partner emerging as clearly dominant.

The highest value was recorded in 2019 at 14 431 thousand US dollars, which represented a 16.7% increase that year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports fell by 17.5%, with a compound annual growth rate of -6.2%.

Imports peaked in 2018 at 51 400 tonnes and reached their lowest point in 2019 at 38 682 tonnes, which was a 24.7% decline that year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, imports decreased by 14.7%, equivalent to an annualized rate of 5.2%.
