Available trade data for the full 2018–2024 period shows import volumes fell initially before surging to a peak of 27 054 tons in 2022 and then moderating. Export volumes demonstrated steady growth, rising from 2 747 tons in 2018 to 6 540 tons in 2024.

After two years of decline, Greece's plastic closures exports increased in 2020, totalling 3 075 tonnes, which represents a strong rise of 12.5% compared to the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, exports grew by 2.5%, with an annualized rate of 0.8%. The lowest export volume was recorded in 2019 at 2 733 tonnes. The largest decline occurred in 2018, with an 8.4% drop.

From 2017 to 2020, Germany, Romania, and Austria were notable buyers of plastic closures from Greece, accounting for 22.9%, 15.2%, and 8.8% of exports in kind, respectively. However, their combined share reached only 46.9% of total exports in kind, indicating a diversified export market.
