Earlier Report Observations

The PK fertilizers market in Poland expanded from 122 thousand tonnes in 2018 to 138 thousand tonnes in 2019. This growth was driven by increased agricultural consumption following the country's integration into the European Union, which raised demand for mineral fertilizers as farming modernized.

Market volume dipped to 112 thousand tonnes in 2020 before recovering to a peak of 148 thousand tonnes in 2022. This volatility was shaped by geopolitical events: Russia's decision to cut fertilizer exports in late 2021 constrained global supply, while EU sanctions and anti-dumping duties on imports from Russia and Belarus in 2022 disrupted trade flows and contributed to a sharp rise in prices, lifting the market's value to over USD 69 million.

From 2023, the market contracted to 102 thousand tonnes and then to 91 thousand tonnes in 2024. Fertilizer consumption in Poland declined, and prices fell by more than 15% year-on-year. Concurrently, imports from Russia and Belarus grew due to their lower cost, while ongoing volatility in raw material prices and stricter environmental regulations influenced production. Technological advances such as bio-based fertilizers and precision agriculture began to affect market dynamics.
