From 2021, persimmon production data began to be recorded by dzongkhag (district), providing clearer regional insights into supply patterns. The following year, the launch of the annual Integrated Agriculture and Livestock Census established a more reliable framework for tracking crop production, including persimmons, which supported policy decisions.

By 2023, the downward trend continued as consumer preferences in Bhutan's fruit market shifted, with noted growth in mandarin and other fruit production drawing demand away from persimmons.

Bhutan's persimmon production declined for the third consecutive year. In 2021, the country produced 97.0 t of persimmons, marking a sharp drop of 53.1% compared to the previous year.
