The market for aggregates in Denmark opened the period at a high level of 32.9 million tonnes in 2018, driven by strong demand from major infrastructure projects such as district heating rollout, new motorways, and railway developments. Market volume recovered to 30.3 million tonnes in 2021, supported by continued public subsidies for construction waste recycling projects and growing environmental awareness that boosted demand for recycled materials in concrete and infrastructure works. The upward trend continued into 2022, with volume reaching 32.4 million tonnes amid a sustained industry focus on sustainability. However, the market contracted to 27.7 million tonnes in 2023 before a partial recovery to 28.8 million tonnes in 2024.
