Earlier Report Observations

The African fresh or chilled peas market showed a clear expansion from 2018 to 2023, with total volume rising from 572.6 thousand tons to 739.5 thousand tons. This growth was primarily supported by an increase in domestic production, which recovered from a minor dip in 2019 to reach 741.0 thousand tons by 2023.

Market growth accelerated notably in 2021 and again in 2023, when volume jumped by over 12% to 739.5 thousand tons. The period saw fluctuating trade flows, but the consistent upward trend in production capacity drove the overall market expansion across the region.
