A further contraction to 726.3 thousand tons occurred in 2021, followed by a modest recovery to 746.6 thousand tons in 2022. The volume then dropped again to 711.2 thousand tons in 2023.

In value terms, the market showed a different trajectory. It decreased from 1 049.2 million US dollars in 2018 to 977.1 million in 2019, then fell sharply to 749.1 million in 2020. The decline continued at a slower pace to 709.8 million in 2021 and 674.0 million in 2022, before rebounding to 757.2 million in 2023.

For 2024, several regional trends emerged. Demand for agricultural products in Western Asia increased with improved supply volumes in the first quarter, indicating market recovery after an economic slowdown. Additionally, consumer behavior in the region shifted towards a greater interest in healthy and natural products, supporting demand for fresh fruits like pears.
