The Tunisian fresh pear market volume started at 11 590 t in 2018. It surged to 19 099 t in 2019, driven by favorable climatic conditions that improved supply and government economic control campaigns which lowered prices. The market then contracted to 10 623 t in 2020.

A recovery followed, with volume reaching 14 171 t in 2021 and growing further to 20 155 t in 2022. This expansion was supported by the adoption of modern agricultural technologies such as drip irrigation and geothermal greenhouses in southern oases, alongside rising European demand for certified produce.

By 2023, the market volume stabilized at 20 514 t. That year saw a significant reduction in pear supply, leading to a sharp price increase, yet domestic consumption remained resilient.

Tunisia's pear production reached 21 000 tonnes in 2019, marking the highest level during this period. However, output declined sharply to 11 000 tonnes in 2020, representing a 47.6% decrease compared to the previous year. Over the entire 2017-2020 period, production fell by 43.6%, which translates to an average annual decline of 17.4%. The most significant year-over-year increase occurred in 2019, when production surged by 61.5%.
