In 2024, imports rose to 11 569 tons, influenced by new regulations including mandatory online labeling for fresh produce and a government price-reduction program that opened the market to imports through regulatory easing. Changes in the allocation of foreign workers for agriculture also affected labor availability in the sector.

Following a two-year decline, pear production in Israel rebounded. In 2020, the country produced 24 000 tonnes of pears, marking a modest increase of 2.1% compared to 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, production fell by 14.3%, with a compound annual growth rate of -5.0%. The lowest output was recorded in 2019 at 23 500 tonnes, which also saw the largest decline of 9.6%.
