This growth was partially corrected in 2023, followed by stabilization in 2024 at 78,400 tons.

The market expansion in 2021-2022 was supported by a rise in domestic production and imports. Production increased from 37,749 tons in 2020 to 53,802 tons in 2022, while imports grew from 45,625 tons to 57,789 tons over the same period. Exports remained relatively stable, contributing to a net increase in domestic supply.

In value terms, the market followed a similar pattern, with a sharp increase to 234.3 million US dollars in 2022 after a period of stability around 150-160 million US dollars in 2018-2020. The decline in both volume and value in 2023 indicates a correction following the previous boom.

In 2021, Czechia produced 46 139 tonnes of PE sacks and bags, representing a 22.2% increase compared to the previous year. Production had reached its lowest level in 2020 at 37 749 tonnes, with the largest annual decline of 5.6% also occurring that year. From 2018 to 2021, overall production rose by 16.3%, corresponding to a compound annual growth rate of 5.2%.

After two consecutive years of contraction, Czechia's exports of PE sacks and bags in volume terms showed a modest recovery. In 2020, exports bottomed out at 28 969 tonnes, but then edged up by 1.2% in 2021 to 29 307 tonnes. The most significant annual drop was recorded in 2020 at 6.1%. Over the 2018-2021 period, exports declined by 8%, with an average annual decrease of 2.7%.

From 2018 to 2021, Germany, Slovakia, and Austria were the primary destinations for Czech exports of PE sacks and bags in volume terms. Germany accounted for 57.2% of exports, Slovakia for 18.9%, and Austria for 4.5%. Together, these three countries represented 80.7% of total export flows.

In 2020, exports reached their lowest point at 65.2 million US dollars, but then jumped by 22.5% in 2021 to 79.8 million US dollars. The largest annual decline occurred in 2019, when exports fell by 10.1%. Between 2018 and 2021, exports increased by 5.6%, with an average annual growth rate of 1.8%.
