After two years of growth, oats production in the Netherlands declined. In 2020, the country produced 7,580 tonnes of oats, marking a 9.3% decrease compared to the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production increased by 12.7%, with a compound annual growth rate of 4.1%. The highest production level was recorded in 2019 at 8,360 tonnes, which also saw the largest annual increase of 21.3%.

Exports oats from the Netherlands

Oats exports from the Netherlands increased for the second consecutive year. In 2020, the Netherlands exported 13.4 thousand tonnes of oats, which is 15.3% higher than the previous year. The lowest export volume was recorded in 2018 at 8.7 thousand tonnes, with the largest decline that year of 35.1%. The largest increase occurred in 2019, with a 34.1% rise.

From 2017 to 2020, Germany and Belgium continued to be the leading markets for oats exports in volume, together accounting for 88.3% of total flows, while other partners played a supplementary role.
