From 2018 to 2021, the not roasted malt market in Estonia showed consistent growth, with volume rising from 17 655 t to 20 510 t. This expansion was supported by increases in both domestic production and imports. However, in 2022 the market volume contracted to 17 768 t, and in 2023 it fell sharply to 13 276 t, the lowest point in the period.

A partial recovery occurred in 2024, with market volume reaching 16 018 t, a 21% increase from 2023 but still below the 2021 peak. In value terms, the market displayed a different pattern: after peaking at USD 10.2 million in 2021, it dipped in 2022 but then grew in 2023 and 2024 to USD 10.4 million, suggesting rising prices or shifts in product mix.

Domestic malt production in Estonia declined substantially after 2021, falling from 4 125 t to under 2 000 t annually from 2022 onward. Imports, which constitute the bulk of supply, also dropped in 2023 before rebounding in 2024. Exports remained relatively stable throughout the period, influencing the net volume available on the market.
