Earlier Report Observations

The market for not in shell eggs and egg yolks in the MENA region underwent a significant contraction from 2018 to 2023, with total volume falling from 14 679 t to 8 626 t. This decline of over 40% was marked by a sharp drop in 2020, when the market shrank by more than 20% to 10 817 t, followed by a period of relative stability in 2021 before resuming a downward trend.

The reduction in market volume was primarily driven by a substantial decrease in imports, which fell from 14 049 t in 2018 to 9 489 t in 2023. While domestic production increased from 2 189 t in 2020 to 2 715 t in 2023, this growth was offset by a notable rise in exports, which surged to 4 306 t in 2022, significantly reducing the volume available for domestic consumption.
