Earlier Report Observations

The Indonesian market for not in shell eggs and egg yolks began its expansion in 2018, with production rising from 21 thousand tons to 23 thousand tons by 2020. This initial growth period was supported by concentrated production hubs in key provinces like East Java, which provided a stable supply base, and was periodically boosted by heightened seasonal demand during religious holidays such as Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

Market growth continued through 2021, with production increasing to nearly 25 thousand tons. During this phase, the ongoing adherence to the National Standard of Indonesia (SNI) 3926-2008 for egg quality helped maintain product integrity and consumer trust. Simultaneously, evolving consumer preferences led to a greater variety of egg products, including those from native chickens, which helped broaden the market base.

Production reached 26.7 thousand tons in 2022 and further climbed to 29.3 thousand tons in 2023. A key development during this period was the active promotion of value-added processing, such as the pilot projects for egg powder production, which created new industrial demand channels. This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, added a new dimension to the market despite the prevailing challenge of high feed costs, which pressured producer margins but did not halt the overall expansion.
