New grid tariff structures for household customers introduced in July 2022, alongside the significant market presence of state-owned Statkraft Varme, influenced heating cost dynamics and related equipment demand. A notable spike in imports to 174.9 thousand units in 2023 aligned with national ambitions to double the use of district heating and surplus energy. The market recalibrated in 2024 as imports fell to 38.0 thousand units, a period marked by the announced sale of Statkraft Varme to a new consortium and the introduction of new regulations requiring automatic control systems in buildings with high heating demand, which affected procurement patterns.

In 2020, output reached 8,565 units, marking a substantial 44.3% increase compared to 2019.
