Rising production costs led to higher prices for both export and domestic wood in 2022, coinciding with the start of export shipments. These pressures culminated in a sharp production drop in 2023, reducing total market volume to 36 845 m³. During this period, the government promoted local processing through events like the International Craft Market of Togo (MIATO).

In 2024, Togo intensified its focus on sustainable forestry with a large-scale reforestation campaign planting over 9 million trees and implementing stricter regulations for forestry operations and transport permits, aiming to ensure long-term resource availability.
