Major national giga-projects including Diriyah, Qiddiya, the Red Sea Project, Expo 2030 Riyadh, King Salman Park, New Square, and The Cube generated unprecedented demand for high-quality wood and processing equipment, driving up both domestic output and market volume.

To support this growing demand and ensure sustainable supply, Saudi Arabia implemented legal measures to protect forests and promote tree planting. Concurrently, imports of roundwood began in 2021 and surged to 11.9 thousand m³ by 2023, indicating that domestic production alone could not fully satisfy the needs of the construction boom. The market's rising prominence was further highlighted by the Saudi Wood Expo 2024, nominated as the best exhibition in the kingdom, serving as a strategic platform connecting buyers with international suppliers and manufacturers.

Overall market size grew from 301.2 thousand m³ to 347.4 thousand m³ by 2023, with imports playing an increasing role in meeting consumption. Wood prices in the kingdom varied by type and quality, influenced by global market conditions, though high-quality wood remained available at reasonable prices from some local stores.

In 2020, the country produced 314.6 thousand cubic meters of non-coniferous roundwood, which represents a 2.2% increase from 2019.
