The non-coniferous roundwood market in Eswatini saw considerable volatility from 2018 to 2023. Market volume expanded by 6% in 2019, reaching 1.85 million m³. This upward trend reversed abruptly in 2020, when consumption plummeted by 32% to 1.25 million m³.

After the sharp contraction, the market entered a phase of gradual recovery. Volume stabilized around 1.21–1.27 million m³ between 2021 and 2022, before edging up to 1.29 million m³ in 2023. Despite three consecutive years of growth, the 2023 level remained 25% below the 2019 peak. Domestic production movements closely mirrored those of market size, as imports were negligible and exports accounted for a small share of output.

After two consecutive years of growth, Eswatini's production of non-coniferous roundwood declined. In 2020, the country produced 1,268 thousand cubic meters, marking a sharp 32.9% decrease from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, production fell by 25.6%, with an average annual decline of 9.4%. The highest production level was recorded in 2019 at 1,889 thousand cubic meters, which also saw the largest annual increase of 6.7%.
