Earlier Report Observations

The market volume for monohydric alcohols in Russia declined from 2 787 thousand tonnes in 2018 to 2 640 thousand tonnes in 2020, before rising to 2 815 thousand tonnes in 2021. The decrease in 2020 was partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which reduced demand across alcohol-related sectors.

Market dynamics shifted from 2022 onward. In November 2022, the authorization of parallel imports for alcoholic beverages, along with the exit of several foreign producers, prompted Russian manufacturers to launch new products such as gin and bitters, contributing to market growth. This helped lift volume to 2 985 thousand tonnes in 2022, although a 3.9% drop in alcohol production the following year temporarily reduced the market to 2 720 thousand tonnes in 2023. By 2024, the expansion of niche segments like cider and mead supported a recovery to 3 003 thousand tonnes.

Production data for 2025 indicated continued activity, with output reaching 4 282 thousand tonnes.
