Earlier Report Observations

The milk market in the Central African Republic grew from 81.4 thousand tons in 2018 to 84.2 thousand tons in 2020. This expansion coincided with government initiatives to launch energy and industrial infrastructure projects aimed at reviving the economy after decades of crisis, including the promotion of modern small hydroelectric plants to improve household access to energy. In 2019, efforts to industrialize natural resources and establish public-private partnerships for investment supported the agricultural sector. Although persistent politico-military crises constrained faster growth, the market continued to develop.

In 2021, market volume dipped to 83.1 thousand tons due to increased production and distribution costs stemming from new petroleum product price structures in the finance law, as well as supply chain disruptions linked to the Russia-Ukraine war, which were monitored by a dedicated economic watch committee. By 2022, the market stabilized at 83.4 thousand tons, supported by ongoing policies to encourage investment in agriculture and the digitalization of public revenues, which aimed to improve economic governance.

The market resumed stronger growth in 2023, reaching 85.8 thousand tons, continuing the positive trend observed over the period.
