The milk market in Antigua and Barbuda experienced fluctuations between 2018 and 2021. After a decline to 5 174 tonnes in 2019, the market volume rebounded to 5 770 tonnes in 2020. This growth was supported by government-led food security initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force's expansion of animal husbandry programs and encouragement for private investment in farming, which bolstered dairy production and consumption.

In 2022, the market volume jumped sharply to 7 527 tonnes, driven largely by a surge in imports. This period coincided with ongoing collaboration between farmers and the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) to promote climate-smart agriculture and enhance livestock resilience, potentially supporting broader dairy sector development. However, in 2023, the market contracted to 5 385 tonnes, returning to levels similar to the pre-pandemic era.
