Earlier Report Observations

The ASEAN market for milk and cream saw initial growth, with volume rising from 7.5 million tonnes in 2018 to 7.8 million tonnes in 2019. This trend was sharply reversed in 2020 when the market contracted by 10% to 7.0 million tonnes, a downturn primarily driven by the global COVID-19 pandemic which disrupted supply chains and altered demand patterns.

Following the pandemic shock, the market entered a phase of stabilization from 2021 to 2023. Volumes remained consistently around 7.1 million tonnes, with year-on-year changes of less than 1.5%, indicating a return to steady demand and supply conditions in the post-pandemic period.
