Looking at the period from 2017 to 2020, production grew by 3.5%, which translates to an annualized rate of 1.1%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2018 at 2,450 tonnes, representing the largest decline of 44.0% that year. In contrast, 2019 saw the most significant increase, with production jumping by 66.9%.

Slovakia's exports of melons and papayas have risen for the second year in a row. In 2020, the country exported 1,415 tonnes, up by 66.4% from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports surged by 119.4%, with a compound annual growth rate of 29.9%. The lowest export volume was in 2018 at 542 tonnes, which also saw the largest decline of 15.9%.

From 2017 to 2020, Czechia and Hungary were the dominant destinations for Slovakia's melon and papaya exports, together accounting for 84.9% of total flows, while other markets made up the remainder.
