Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2023, the melon seeds market volume in Southern Asia showed variable movement. In 2019, the market grew to 27 602 t, driven by increasing watermelon cultivation due to rising consumer demand in the region and a focus on hybrid melon seeds with improved disease resistance and higher yields.

After a drop to 25 483 t in 2020, the market recovered to 26 849 t in 2021. This rebound was supported by Syngenta Vegetable Seeds' investment in a Seed Health Lab in India, which enhanced seed quality control, alongside a growing consumer preference for organic and gluten-free melon seed products.

In the subsequent years, the market volume moderated, declining to 26 480 t in 2022 and 25 531 t in 2023.
