Earlier Report Observations

The MDF market volume in Northern Africa started at 995 thousand m³ in 2018, then contracted to 868 thousand m³ in 2019. It recovered to 1,033 thousand m³ in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic altered consumer behavior, boosting demand for home renovation and furniture materials.

Market growth accelerated, reaching 1,246 thousand m³ in 2021 and a peak of 1,286 thousand m³ in 2022. The volume then moderated to 1,225 thousand m³ in 2023, coinciding with a reported softening in furniture sales in major markets.

By 2024, global factors came to the fore, including a significant expansion of MDF production capacity in India and the development of advanced technologies like digital printing and fire-resistant coatings, which began reshaping international supply conditions.
