Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2021, the MDF market volume in Asia grew from 69 871 thousand m³ to a peak of 75 121 thousand m³ in 2019, then stabilized near 74 500 thousand m³. The market then contracted to 68 830 thousand m³ in 2022 and 66 217 thousand m³ in 2023.

In 2023, the market saw the entry of new player Crossbond with a new manufacturing facility, while several Indian manufacturers including Century Ply and Greenply expanded production capacities by approximately 3 500 cubic meters, increasing overall supply.

Technological advancements led to moisture-resistant and low-formaldehyde MDF products meeting stricter environmental regulations, while state policies like Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor housing fund restructuring created long-term demand for MDF in low-cost housing projects.
