After two consecutive years of growth, the production of mandarins, clementines, tangelos, and citrus hybrids in the Caribbean declined. In 2019, production reached its peak at 66 194 tons, but by 2020, it had fallen to 55 519 tons, marking a 16.1% decrease from the previous year. The most significant increase occurred in 2018, with a rise of 9.2%.

Exports in kind, t

Following a two-year decline, exports of mandarins, clementines, tangelos, and citrus hybrids from the Caribbean rebounded. In 2019, exports hit their lowest point at 312 tons, but in 2020, they rose to 419 tons, showing a sharp increase of 34.3% compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports decreased by 28.1%, which translates to an average annual decline of 10.4%. The largest drop was recorded in 2019, with a fall of 34.8%.

From 2017 to 2020, the majority of exports in volume were concentrated in two countries: the United States and the Netherlands. Together, they accounted for 96.6% of total export flows.

In 2020, the value of mandarins, clementines, tangelos, and citrus hybrids exported from the Caribbean stood at 229 thousand US dollars, reflecting a strong gain of 24.5% compared to 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, export value decreased by 48.3%, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of -19.7%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 184 thousand US dollars, while the highest was in 2018 at 508 thousand US dollars. The most significant decline occurred in 2019, with a drop of 63.8%.

Imports of mandarins, clementines, tangelos, and citrus hybrids into the Caribbean increased for the third consecutive year. In 2020, imports reached 4 099 tons, up by 85.8% from 4 099 tons in 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, imports grew by 213.7%, equating to an average annual increase of 46.4%.

From 2017 to 2020, the main sources for imports in volume were the United States (45.9% of imports), Chile (24.9%), and Colombia (11.4%). Together, these three countries represented 82.2% of total import flows.
