The Spanish maize flour and cereals market volume increased from 1 277 тыс. т in 2018 to 1 353 тыс. т in 2019, supported by public intervention mechanisms and policies aimed at enhancing grain self-sufficiency. In 2020, volume edged down to 1 336 тыс. т as COVID-19 pandemic disruptions affected production, despite continued subsidies under the Common Agricultural Policy.

Domestic flour consumption growth pushed volume to 1 344 тыс. т in 2021. The outbreak of war in Ukraine in 2022 prompted supply security measures and a shift toward domestic production, driving market volume sharply higher to 1 543 тыс. т. However, severe drought in 2023 reduced local harvests and, coupled with high inflation, brought volume down to 1 421 тыс. т.

Spain's production of maize flour and cereals saw a two-year increase before declining in 2020. That year, output reached 1 204 K t, marking an 8.8% decrease compared to 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, production grew by 5.3%, with a compound annual growth rate of 1.7%. The peak was recorded in 2019 at 1 320 K t, while the largest annual increase occurred in 2018 at 8.5%.

Spain's maize flour and cereals production increased for the third consecutive year in 2020. The output was valued at 554.5 M $ US, showing minimal change from the previous year. From 2017 to 2020, production rose by 6.3%, equivalent to an annualized growth rate of 2.1%.

Over the 2017-2020 period, exports surged by 56%, with a compound annual growth rate of 16.0%. The highest volume was recorded in 2018 at 93.0 K t, while the largest decline occurred in 2019 at 3.0%. The most significant increase was in 2018, with a jump of 59.7%.
