The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 caused a boom in at-home flour consumption, significantly boosting domestic demand and lifting market volume to 3.6 million tonnes.

Subsequent shifts in consumer preferences toward whole grain and healthier products continued to stimulate the market, reaching a peak of 3.7 million tonnes in 2021. Despite falling production and global price volatility from the war in Ukraine, sustained demand for convenient and ready-to-eat food products helped stabilize the market, with volume remaining around 3.7 million tonnes through 2022 and 2023.
