From 2018 to 2023, Argentina's liquid egg production expanded steadily, rising from 775 tonnes to 914 tonnes, an increase of 18%. This growth was underpinned by the ongoing expansion of the country's layer hen flock, which boosted the supply of shell eggs available for processing into liquid products.

A key driver was the 8.5% rise in the laying flock to 51.6 million birds in 2022, which helped push liquid egg output to 901 tonnes that year. Argentina also solidified its position as the world's fourth-largest egg consumer, with per capita consumption reaching 314 eggs, fuelling domestic demand for egg products. In 2023, the flock grew by a further 8%, and per capita egg consumption climbed another 4.4% to a historic high, supporting production despite an inflationary environment exceeding 200%.

The rise in consumption was facilitated by shifts in retail distribution, including increased direct sales from producers to consumers in smaller, two-carton packs. This made eggs more accessible and encouraged regular purchases. The liquid egg market remained almost entirely domestically oriented, with exports accounting for less than 3% of total production.

Argentina's liquid egg production has grown for the third year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 815.8 tonnes of liquid eggs, marking a modest increase of 5.0% compared to 2019. Looking at the period from 2017 to 2020, production rose by 7.6%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 2.5%.
